Graduate schools in the United States are reporting（有点儿偏额了，想着小千说过“锅”） a nine percent increase（有点off） in applications from international students this year. The increase is the same as two years ago. Last year's gain(ei音有点儿象schwa了） was eleven（是i，你的偏i：） percent.

China, Mexico and Brazil showed the biggest increases in applications（梅花音） to enter master's and doctoral programs this fall.

Engineering is the top area of study for international students and had the biggest increase in applications. Gains（this one sounds better) in business and physical and earth sciences were close behind. Life sciences showed no growth（感觉th好象没伸舌头出来，not very sure） in the latest survey by the Council of Graduate Schools.

The survey includes the top five countries that send graduate students to the United States, plus Mexico and Brazil. The top（注意美音更偏啊一些） five are（注意卷舌） China, India, South Korea, Taiwan and Canada.
