19. Hometown Accent
I think that I will keep my hometown accent, although many other folks are trying hard to get rid of their current accents and acquire some other popular ones. For one thing, I have been told by a number of native speakers that my accent is light and therefore does not make it difficult to understand my speech. For another, I realized recently that the hometown accent is one of the few things from my hometown, which I can carry with me all the time without much difficulty. In other words, it functions well and has nostalgic value. Why not keep it?
