Also considering doing something in basement. Have a couple of questions for you.

How do you attach the wood frame to concrete wall or floor? Do you use screws or nails or some other thing? Will screw or nail cause cracks on the wall or floor and cause water problem in the future?

Some air pipes in my basement is low. Ceiling will be too low if I do it from there. Do you have this problem? Do you have any suggestions on how to cover them?

Besides the carpeting tools, what kind of other special tools are needed?
