Why 难为老人在这里了。 If the inlaws deosn't want to stay here, they can go back China. LZ said she needs to pick up the kids, this means linlaws are not helping taking care of kids.

I don't think it is an unreasonable expectation that inlaws shall share some housework, if they are not taking care of the kids at all. With inlaws or even one's own parents stay in house, there are much more houseworks to do, cooking, cleaning.... If they are pysically health, I don' see why they can not help to ease the housework.
