Depends on where you are and what type of care the nursing home provides, $1ok/month could be quite cheap.  My father-in-law, before he died, lived in an assisted living facility in New York for which he paid more than $200k per year.  At home care is much more expensive than that because at some point, you have to hire three people to do 24 hour care.
