I have 3 older sisters who

who were the daughters of my neighbor's. Their father married a lady they couldn't get along with. So my parents managed to look after them without jeopardizing their relationship with this neighbor. They became like our biological older sisters.

I saw some examples like you said. I never liked those step parents.
