I used to have a south-north house, now I am buying east-west house.

From my experience, it depends on the weather of your living place. I am living in TX and the weather trends to be warm/hot, even in winter. so I am buying the new house with most of the rooms facing north.

And for resale value, at least in my community, east-west house is more preferrable by American, if it is in a cu-de-sac, even more attractive.
