Picture format has record of change, therefore can recover

  • Digital photo metadata (EXIF data) — which stores information like edits, timestamps, GPS, and camera settings; or

  • File format change (e.g., from JPEG → PNG) — and wondering if the original can be recovered; or

  • Version history from software (e.g., Photoshop, Google Photos, OneDrive) that tracks edits?
