First of all, don't count on any help you may get from Chinese government. In most of the cases, you'd be disappointed. In rare cases, it could land you in more trouble. Just remember, the moment you left China is the moment you are on your own. Freedom is also a double-edged sword. On the positive side, it is your chance to show the world what kind of material you are made of. On the negative side, you are fighting a tough battle of your own.
Second, you are still obligated to help your fellow country men. We live in a connected world, just mind your own business will not help you in the long run. If you don't want to help, it actually defeats the purpose of going aboard.
In summary, if you want to look the benefit of going overseas from pure business point of view, you are almost guaranteed a loser crown. You get less and pay more. But I, for one, will ware that loser crown as a badge of honor. I don't regret a bit of the path I've chosen.
Being oversea chinese, you need to understand your position.
