Your mind is even less than being simple. This lucky guy has made a good decision to buy clothes he likes his wife to put on. You see the point here? His wife now as a nice piece of clothes to wear which is prettier than every piece she has had. Only an idiot would refuse the new clothes out of a fussy fear that his wife may be not as pretty as the model in the store's showroom.

It is similar for democracy. A not-so-perfect democratic system is still considered better than none or a dictatorship, just like a not-so-pretty wife can wear clothes designed for perfection.
