I have three children and don't need anything from them

and I don't expect any one of them to look after me when I get old. They should focus on their own families.

Luckily we don't need them to do anything for us in later life. We have pensions, housing, insurance, Social Security.

At the end of the day there's always nursing home. Is it really so different in China?  Do their elders need to rely on the younger generations to live?  I think the answer is no. I heard that retired people there have more income than their children have!
