Why did I dream of you last night?  缘何梦君？

 

Why did I dream of you last night?                            缘何梦君？

Now morning is pushing back hair with grey light      拂晓暗褪

Memories strike home, like slaps in the face;            旧忆叩扉

Raised on elbow, I stare at the pale fog                     以肘支颐

beyond the window.                                                 透窗凝雾

 

So many things I had thought forgotten                  原以皆忘

Return to my mind with stranger pain:                    岂料忆溃

—Like letters that arrive addressed to someone      似笺翩至

Who left the house so many years ago.                  昔人已去
