Your computer seems a bit slow. Simple update could be boost RAM from 128 to 256MB from crucial.com, outpost.com, compusa.com, etc.

WMA (Windows Meida Audio) is more popular than ever - you can try converting MP3 to WMA format using Windows Media Player 10, for example. the file size will reduce quite a bit without losing original sound quality.
