Furtwangler 在42年 Berlin， 拒绝同 Hitler 握手，

但那次的演奏真的是不同凡响。他留在德国，但我并不觉得他是纳粹。他是个纯粹的艺术家，无以伦比的艺术家。就像柏林爱乐的一位提琴手说过，Furtwangler是个 Kuenstler （艺术家）， 而 Karajan 是个 Verkaufsmann (商人)。卡拉扬是上着杆子加入纳粹的，而 Furtwangler 在战后受的压力与谴责却大得多，好在这些年纠正过来了。

尽管都是 Mono 的录音，但是真喜欢 Furtwangler 指挥的贝多芬，瓦格纳。
