加拿大著名乐队Nickelback成立于Alberta省的小城Hanna. 最初的成员是Chad Kroeger(主唱/吉他手)，他的兄弟Mike Kroeger(贝斯手)，他们的表兄弟Brandon，以及他们的好朋友Ryan Peake(吉他手)。Nickelback现在是商业上最成功的加拿大乐队之一，全世界已售出大约三千一百万张专辑。在2000年Nickelback名列全球最畅销音乐榜的第11位，在美国仅排在披头士之后名列最畅销的外国音乐艺人的第二位。
Nickel是加拿大人对五分硬币的称呼，乐队成员Mike Kroeger在星巴克咖啡（Starbucks）工作时，他经常会对客户说：Here's your nickel back。乐队之名由此而来。
2001年，Nickelback的专辑“Silver Side Up”带他们进入了主流音乐市场。其中的“How You Remind Me”取得了巨大的成功，在同一时间登上了美国及加拿大排行榜的＃1。在美国，它既是主流和当代摇滚音乐排行榜的＃1，同时也是流行音乐榜的＃1，并达到了Adult Top 40榜的＃ 2。2002年“How You Remind Me” 在Billboard Hot 100单曲榜中排名第一。这个专辑中的另外两首单曲“Too Bad” 及“Never Again”也登上过主流和当代摇滚音乐排行榜的＃1。

2003年，他们的专辑“The Long Road”面世。“Someday”是其中最出名的单曲 。另一首单曲“Feelin' Way Too Damn Good”曾达到主流和当代摇滚音乐排行榜的＃3的位置。 “Figured You Out” 更排在主流和当代摇滚音乐排行榜的前列达连续13周之久。
他们的第五张专辑“All The Right Seasons”，其中有五支单曲打入美国Hot 100单曲榜的前20位： “Photograph” ， “Savin' Me” ， “Far Away” ， “If Everyone Cared” ， “Rockstar” 。这张专辑在份美国截至2009年4月25日已售出7，130，623张。
Nickelback的最新专辑“Dark Horse”发行于二○○八年九月三十号。其中有他们的多首热门曲目：” If Today Was Your Last Day”, “Gotta Be Somebody”, “Something in Your Mouth”, “I'd Come for You” 和 “Burn It To The Ground”。
