Sting(斯汀)被当今乐坛冠以诗人歌手的美名相当程度上得益于他那独一无二的嗓音，沙哑，但不失细腻，始终如自由不羁的云，荡漾于缈缈的空中。

The Police一共出过5张专辑唱片，1983年的《Sychronicity》是The Police最为成功的专辑，连续17年周称雄美国 Billboard 杂志专辑榜。其中的一首单曲“Every Breath You Take”更是红极一时，在英美两地都登上了流行榜首。不久，The Police宣告解散。

Sting的独唱事业开始于The Police解散前的1982年，1993年末，Sting以专辑 Ten Summoner’s Tales 更受到人们的关注，在这张专辑中，Sting已经完全摆脱了The Police时期的影子，并加深了人们对他的行吟诗人印象。从80年代末开始，Sting经常涉足政界，用进行巡回演出的款项来资助印第安人争取生活的自由。进入90年代以来，Sting多次获得葛莱美大奖，成为全球最有影响的艺人之一。
