The Boomer Years - 1973 - Life

President Nixon fires Watergate prosecutor Archibald Cox when Cox demands White House tape recordings.
Nixon appoints Leon Jaworski to replace Cox.

The "Sears Tower" in Chicago opens. It is 1,455 feet tall.

George Foreman defeats Joe Frazier to become the heavyweight champion of the world.

The Academy award for Best Picture goes to "The Sting."

The Boomer Years - 1973 - Music

You're the Sunshine of My life
Stevie Wonder is an American songwriter, producer, singer,humanitarian and social activist. Althoug he was blind from infantcy, Stevie Wonder "has become one of the most successful and well-known artists on the Motown label, with nine U.S. #1 hits to his name and album sales totaling more than 70 million units."

"You Are the Sunshine of My Life" won him a Grammy in 1973 for the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

Time in a bottle
Jim Croce was an American singer & songwriter. He first began playing music when he was in college and was finally singed by ABC in 1972.
Jim's music style is remembered as both gentle and playful.Unfortunately, a plane crush ended his life abruptly "as he teetered on the brink of great success" for his music career.
"Time in a Bottle" is a song that he had written for his son, AJ. And it was one of the greatest hits of 1973.

Neither One of Us
Gladys Knight & the Pips were a legendary R&B/soul musical act.
“Neither One of Us” won them the 1973 Grammy for the Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus.

Marvin Gaye was a very talented singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. Gaye first began his music career at Motown in 1960.
During his music career, Gaye scored an impressive total of 41 Top 40 hit singles on Billboard's Pop Singles chart from 1963 to 2001.
