Absolutely different but reminent issue! Crimea was a part of Russia, and given to Ukraine in 1950s. Most citizens in Crimea are Russians who vote to return home country. That's it.
Taiwan is a part of China. It is in such status because of the civil war in 1940s. This is a tragety for all Chinese on both sides of the Strait. It is a short sight to remain such separate state using any execuses by these politians. The only way for a better future of people in Taiwan is to reunite with the mainland China. Only Then, China can claim to rise.
A separate nation is a sad situation for all Chinese who wish to reunite peacefully through negotiation, discussion and mediation, etc.
Fortunately, there is a sign that politians from both the mainland and Taiwan who are willing to initiate such talk. I have some feelings that President Ma and President Xi will meet somewhere in the near future. For the interests of Chinese people, of our ancesters, of our children and of grandchildren, let's do everything possible to push reunion of Taiwan and the mainland.
