We know now the North started. But China did not know before the war broke out. US got invloved, but China did not enjoin the war immediately. Only when US & the South crossed the 38 parallel, China gave warning to the US & South not to move further toward China. But they ignored China's warning.

China was more concerned about its own security, not the North Koreans. That is why China enjoined the war later.

Maybe the result of China winning the war or tie created the by-product of saving the Kim's regime.

But all countires care about their own interests first.
