How Ukraine Cuts the Fuel for Russia’s War

Dnistrivka – Confirming the liberation of approximately 360 square kilometers of Ukrainian land (168 retaken and 180 cleared of Russian raiders and saboteurs), the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyj, announced the results achieved on Russian soil as part of Operation «Deep Strike.»
In less than two months, at least 85 key enemy targets were struck, broken down as follows: 33 strictly military (bases, depots, arsenals, airports, air force) and 52 related to the Russian Federation’s military-industrial complex.
With domestically produced missiles and other weapons, and thus without needing approval from other countries, Ukraine has managed to weaken the Russian giant by targeting its biggest vulnerability: raw materials.
The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed it had hit Gazprom’s Neftekhim-Salavat oil refinery Bashkortostan . This is the Elou-Avt-6 Oil processing facility, which is the primary source of oil for many Russian refining plants. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also hit key targets in the Volgograd region of Russia, which support the enemy’s logistics, such as the ‘Kuzmichi-1’ oil pumping station (part of the crude oil transportation system to the southern regions of Russia) and the ‘Zenzevatka’ oil pumping station, which facilitate its transportation through the main «Kuibyshev-Tikhoretsk» gas pipeline. Ukrainian production vehicles also targeted the enemy UAV production facility in the Valuyki district of Bilhorod. On September 22, Ukrainian long-range missiles hit the Astrakhan gas processing plant, damaging its most vital areas and disrupting the production chain. The Saratov and Novokuibyshevsk refineries were also affected, catching fire, as was the Samara control and production station in the region of the same name.
«Putin wants all of Ukraine and will only stop when he runs out of fuel» – commented President Volodymyr Zelensky, explaining once again that «there really is no point in insisting on the exchange of territories or the restoration of trade relations with Russia, because Putin will not be satisfied and will not stop like this.»
The Ukrainians also struck the oil refineries of Sirzan and Krasnodar, which play a central role in supplying the Russian war machine. With new domestically produced marine drones, they paralyzed the operation of the enemy oil terminals in Tuapse and Novorossiysk, linked to the Transneft complex, and of the Caspian gas pipeline consortium where the ships of the Russian shadow fleet loaded oil. Other HUR marine drones have detonated the oil pier of one of the largest terminals in the Russian Federation, still located in Tuapse.
Just in the past few hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have struck three important hubs linked to the Russian gas distribution network in the occupied Luhansk region: ‘Shchastia’ (the main source of gas for the Luhansk thermal power plant), ‘Severodonetsk’ (of strategic importance as it is linked to the supply of the ‘Azot’ plant), and ‘Novopskov’ (also of fundamental importance to the Russian war machine). Other attacks also caused damage in Sochi, reflecting a phase of the war in which Ukraine has made the enemy’s energy-industrial dimension the primary target of its «Deep Strike» campaign.
The impact of these attacks is immediate, forcing Moscow to scramble to defend a territory as vast as it is vulnerable, which is now deprived of the very lifeblood with which Putin fuels the war.
