Is there anything need to be jealous of?

Russian tried skip reentry, and it didn't really help them. It didn't live up to its promise. Apollo reentry pods built in with skip reentry capability, but the computation didn't show it had any advantage. Skip reentry is supposed to lower the temperature of the reentry vehicle, but the problem is that, when the reentry is interrupted, the SV raises up of the atmosphere, and without air there is nothing to really cool it down. As radiative cooling is only effective when the temperature is too high for SV structure. Hence the SV isn't cooling down when it skipped back to orbit. There is no distinct advantage for heat and high g. Apollo optioned not to use it, but had a better heat shield, Russian never did have manned mission to moon, and all their moon mission tried skip reentry. That should tell people something.

Also, just a reminder, Mars mission all uses more sophesticated aerobraking, on Mars. There isn't much to boast about this skip reentry.
