这首歌创作于六十年代，也是嬉皮士（Hippies) 的时刻，加州各大学反越战的示威活动搞得很厉害。在我看来，可能就是惧怕上火线吧。呵呵，我是随便说说，别给我扣反“民主” 的大帽子啊。据说当时的民警当局为了对付学生的“民主” 示威， 出动马队，对着学生用马刀背乱砍。我认识加大柏克莱出道的一前辈教授，他的颈背，被民警同志用马刀砍过。一到阴雨天的，就会难受。当然，前辈教授没上越战前线。
