There is no concrete evidence that Li was killed by CIA. But one can rule out that he was killed by the Chinese Communist agent simply because those in power (actual rightists if not anti Maoists) in the 90's would go all the way to defend Mao's honor AND the US govt would not let a foreign agent come to kill its resident at will without saying a word.
Li's cause of death can only be attributable to natural cause or under dubious circumstance other rthan the one mentioned above.
