今天是6/2日，2023年的第153天，今年还剩212天。

人类历史上的今天,发生了如下值得我关注的事件：

——1865

美国内战结束

是日，美国密西西比河以西的邦联部队指挥官埃德蒙·科比·史密斯将军签署了联邦谈判人员提出的投降条款。随着史密斯的投降，最后一支邦联军队不复存在，正式结束了美国历史上最血腥的四年。

这一事件被公认为内战结束。

美国内战始于1861年4月12日，当时皮埃尔·G·T·博雷加德将军率领的邦联岸上炮台向南卡罗来纳州查尔斯顿港联邦控制的萨姆特堡开火。在34小时内，50门邦联炮和迫击炮向供应不足的堡垒发射了4000多发炮弹。4月13日，联邦驻军指挥官罗伯特·安德森少校投降了。两天后，美国亚伯拉罕·林肯总统发布公告，呼吁75,000名志愿士兵帮助平息南方的反叛。战争持续了四年，以邦联被击败，美国联邦政府得以生存，直至今日。这是美国历史上最为血腥的战事，总共损失了62万联邦和邦联战士。

编者按：美国联邦在内战中的胜利使得美国这个新生的合众国家得以生存下来，随后不断发展壮大成为当今世界上唯一的超级大国，她左右世界局势，影响人类进程与发展；没有这场战争中北方联邦的胜利，就没有今天的美国，今天的世界格局会是完全不一样的局面。

这场战争的联邦政府的胜利从而结束了美利坚合众国建国伊始就撕裂着这个国家根基的奴隶制度。

American Civil War ends

In an event that is generally regarded as marking the end of the Civil War, Confederate General Edmund Kirby Smith, commander of Confederate forces west of the Mississippi, signs the surrender terms offered by Union negotiators. With Smith’s surrender, the last Confederate army ceased to exist, bringing a formal end to the bloodiest four years in U.S. history.

The American Civil War began on April 12, 1861, when Confederate shore batteries under General Pierre G.T. Beauregard opened fire on Union-held Fort Sumter in South Carolina’s Charleston Harbor. During 34 hours, 50 Confederate guns and mortars launched more than 4,000 rounds at the poorly supplied fort, and on April 13 U.S. Major Robert Anderson, commander of the Union garrison, surrendered. Two days later, U.S. President Abraham Lincolnissued a proclamation calling for 75,000 volunteer soldiers to help quell the Southern “insurrection.” Four long years later, the Confederacy was defeated at the total cost of 620,000 Union and Confederate dead.
