在高端酒店或写字楼，当我乘电梯与一个美女同处一个狭小空间时，会很拘束。同一场景下，我的感受在中西的差异极大。在西方，the lady will smile, make an eye contact, or even start a small talk, clearly trying to put me at ease as she reads my awkwardness. In China，the exact opposite will happen. The Chinese lady’s facial expressions and body language deliberately exhibit the state of being on guard. Frankly, I find the latter behavior uncivilized.   

在上述场合下的女性，都是受过良好教育，养尊处优的。这种中西差异，揭示了两个社会和文化中很多有意思的东西。这不仅是我个人几十年的观察，很多朋友都有类似的经历。
