My father had several Mao's poems in his notes books dated back to 1943! Also, I had compared the poems and the artciles with the Mao's current publications in 1977, they were almost identical, no any major corrections at all.
He had 5 pinted none published works by Mao between 1940-42, (such as for On A Lasting War, Mao's bio, etc.) Those were printed in tiny red color fonts by CCP or PLA ( like a student home work booklets).
These documents were donated to Nanjin Military District in 1978 by my father, and it turned out to be a few earliest versions that survived the wars in CCP/PLA printing history, collect by PLA Museum in Bejing. I was very upset about the old man's decision.
