McArthur was a false war god

Without navy support, he lost.  The president had to send airplane to resecue him.

Most critical battles in the Pacific were won by the Navy and Marines.  "I shall return" was made possible by the Navy.

He became the boss in Japan because they needed an Army general.

Then in Korea, once again, he was beaten badly.  And fired for insubordination.
