文革爆发那年我正在上小学4年级. 初中毕业时恢复了高中，学制两年，大约是百分之十。班上有个同学，学习特好，特别想上高中，但是他爸爸有 "historical issues"，没有上上高中。That was me! 

我说的是北京，别的地方就不知道了. I skipped grade 2, otherwise 文革爆发那年我正在上小学三年级. 

i want to a vocational school through a back-door to avoid going to the countryside. That was the only year where vocational school enrolled graduates from mid school. The year after the vocational school enrolls only from labor force, 'worker-peasant-soldier' students. Had I not skip a grade, I might have no where to go but the countryside. On the other hand, I might be able to go to a high school with increase quota. Either way, my life would be change significantly.
