A few times, he talked to me that he wants to talk to people to get more. I simply ask him to be quiet since I can send him money from US.

I know many of my dad's fellow soldiers, they got about 50 yuan a month around 2000. But their families were much poorer. I was almost the only one to go college among the offspring of dad's friends since they are farmers.
