Mao Tse-tung, or Mao Zedong,(1893-1976)

a Chinese rovilutionary and political leader.

As chirman of the Communist party, Mao was ruler of

China from 1949,when the Communist government was

established, to 1976.One of the most important figures

of the 20 century, Mao unified China after decades

of division and made the country a major industrial

and military power.Under his leadership, the centries

-long problem of famine was eradicated corruption was

eliminated, but China became one of the most regimented

and totalitarian nations in the world.
