find an engine from junk yard

and have a self-taught mechanic installed, the whole cost might be less than $1000. Other shop might charge $1500 to fix the engine (don't go to the dealer). Or let Wal-mart find a store for you to fix the car, and they pay the bill.
Also ask Wal-mart how they determine the bookvalue, and show them the appraiser value from your sources.
