Most of the states, if not all, have an SOL to challenge a will

Normally it is two years after the will is submitted for probate. I assume your grandpa's will was submitted for probate shortly after he passes away. This means SOL has long lapsed and your mother can no longer chanlenge it. Check with a local lawyer to confirm it.
