Involved in a Car accident and it is my husband's responsibility

My hu*****and's was involved in a Car accident and it is his responsibility since he bumped somebody else's car in the back. There are three people in that car. The insurance desicion is that the total body damage exceed our total insurance coverage, We may responsible for the loss beyond the coverage. Could any one have any suggestion how we could handler in this case? thanks in advance for that.
