My husband does not want to apply for citizenship, will my kid b

Me and hu*****and and my son all get green card for almost 5 years, but my hu*****and does not want to be an American Citizen and ask me and my son to apply. I know if both parent apply for naturalization together, the children will become citizen automatically. But what if only be apply, will it have impact on my son's application?
