need urgent help

Hello All,

I need a urgent suggestion. I have a chinese colleague who voilates police order to break into a woman's home. He is still in bailing out period and this his second arrest before the court date. I have been asked by him to apply as his surety and the bail out money is $ 5000. My questions is
: (1) Is this a serious crimal? (2) what is seriuos responsibity as a surety?
(3) I may be asked by judge whether I can live with him ( in a house) to watch him? But he is a single man and I am a married man with 3 small kids. It actually can not be reality. If I promise I can, what the serious result it will bring?
