I suggest you taking your son to see other doctors first!!!

As it happens recently, there is chance to recover the nerve functions. Talk to different doctors until find out a solution.

At the same time, keep all the records, bills, X-Rays, and etc. You have 2 years to sue (or till your son 18?). But your son's hand does not have much time to waste.
