Landlord didn't return my deposit. What I could do to win the ca

There are so many warmhearted JJMM here. I have another hard situation wants
some suggestion.

I moved out from the old apartment and it is already past 30 days, and the
landlord didn't return my deposit.

The situation is that I sent out four registered mails to asking him to
return my deposit. And I got his mail today telling me that he can't return
my deposit. Due to the following, he didn't attach the receipt for all these
item and neither did he pay back me the rest of my deposit.

1) 400 clear up fee for the oven and hardwood floor

2) 600 Fixed the leaking in the bath, which is actually happen more
than one years before I moved out. It is obviously not caused by me. It was
leaking before I moved in.

3) 300 water bill.

The situation is that I spent more than one hundred dollars for the clean up
person to clear my apartment and also I spent some money to reclean the
hardwood floor. If I had know that I will not get my deposit back, I don't
need to spend extra dollar amount.

They always say that baby will bring my good luck! Hopefully I could go
through all these hard times.

During the move out check process, the landlord told me that she will return
my deposit once I done all the items she mentioned. But now she didn't. How
could I do?
