You should get an idea. I am in Nevada and I am very lazy today to do the research for others.

Personally, I would not pay and wrote him a certified letter to explain the matter. If the contract has mistakes, it is the courts job to interpret the right way. In Nevada, similar case, Judge is favor to the Tenant. I can not speak for IL judge.
