As I know, if you did work less than 20 hrs/week in school, it's legal. Don't worry! All my friends in NY (Brauch college) work 20 hrs/week in school as F-1 student. They got pay $10-15/hour. But do remember, don't work over 20 hrs/week since you are full time student. And don't work in other place except your school.
