Old cat, thanks! Follow up questions

I heard some people said that I should push the court date as late as possible so that the policemen might not show up and I could win the case. Is it true? In case the policymen do show up,how should I ask for reduced penalty if the judge just asks me guity or not guity? Please help! By the way, I am in New Jersey.
