父母报税请教stp 及朋友们

I am filing 1040 form, intending to claim my parents, who has stayed with me since May 2006, to be independent. However, 1040 instruction shows me that if parents are not U.S.citizens, resident aliens, I cannot claim them as depedent.

How can I claim them as depends as many posts in this forum clearly show that they are qualifying? What is the trick? Thank you very much!
