urgent - whether need to go court

a lawyer sent a court notice for a bill last year. it was a surprise. i just figured out what happened.

last year, i was sent to a hospital by a car accident. i gave all the bill to insurance company. i thought that they paid it. but the lawyer said that they sent me letters for the payment. they sued the case to court in 10/2005 when they did not hear me. i never saw the letters before the court notice. but somehow the insurance paid the balance in 6/2006. now they insist that i pay the court fee. they will drop the case. otherwise go to court. those happened without my knowledge. i do not know whether i need to pay. also what is the damage if i pay for it.
