I got a speeding ticket (drive 61 miles on speed limit 40miles) last friday. The fine is $160 plus 2 points (BTW, i live in Maryland). I talked with the police officer after he gave me the ticket. he told me that i can go to court to explain and maybe the judge can take the 2 points off since this is my first speeding ticket. I checked the ticket after i am back home and found i have three ways to go: 1) pay the fine directly and get the 2 points in my driving records; 2) wait for the summon to go to court for a trial, then plead guilt or don't plead guilt and explain to the judge (in this case, the police officer will show up in the court); 3) Plead guilt right now and request for waiver hearing (in this case, the police officer will not show up in the hearing, and i still can explain to the judge). i prefer to explain to the judge for the 2 points off. I just wonder which way i should go, 2 or 3? Please give me your suggestion. Thanks in advance!

I am looking forward to your response...
