请教填税FORM 8843

8843上有个内容很让我困惑，希望有经验的人士能帮帮我。
:"Were you present in the United States
as a teacher, trainee, or student for any part of 2 of the 6 prior
calendar years(1997 through 2002)" ......If you checked the "yes" box
on line 8, you cannot exclude days of presence as a teacher or
trainee unless you meet the Exception explained on page 3.

这是什么意思呀？我是2001年9月来的美国，一直做POSTDOC，今年10月刚换了H1，但也在学校。我该回答YES还是NO. 若回答YES，我就不符号EXCLUDE DAYS OF PRESENCE的条件了吗？
