HELP! -- alive provement

My mom was retired from a company in China, now she is in the US with a US citizenship. Her relatives receive her monthly retirement pay.

Recently her retirement company asked for an alive provement from Embassy in order to continue paying her retirement money. Does any one know which Embassy we should go, what the procedures are, and do she have to go in person? Our city does not have a Chinese Embassy.
