A quick tax question about real estate gain

This is a simple question, and I searched the this forum, but didn't find the answer.

I lived in a house for 6 years (full time), and sold it last year. Wondering if I need to list it in the tax form, then explain that I've lived there for more than 2 years? Or I don't need to list it at all. As my friends have given me different answers, so I am looking for some confirmation here. Your help is greatly appreciated.
