I don't agree with you. She may still apply for the green card but has to go through an interview with the immigration officer regarding to her case. She can't apply for the US citizenship within the 5 years she commit a crime involving moral terpitude. She won't be deported as long as it was her 1st conviction for shoplifting and actual sentencing is no more than 6 mon and the potential max is no more than 1 year. However, as shoplift is a crime of moral terpitude, she is inadmissible to US any more, unless she apply to some special forgiveness from the INS..BTW, I rebute shoplifters!!
