ITIN for kid

I am holding H1B visa and 485 pending right now. My six years old son holds an AP and goes back to China. If he stayed in US for less than 6 monthes in 2005, could I claim him as my dependent for 2005 tax return? Could I apply an ITIN for him? Thanks in advance!
