Can I fire my lawyer?

I hire a lawyer to apply LC through PERM and paid half of the price. It is not submitted yet. They are so bad that I believe I should do it myself. Can I fire them with reasons that I don't want to preceed PERM or that I changed my mind in application? He won't know what will happen with my application later on.
