Do I need to pay Medicare?

I'm a university teacher (H1-B) and using the tax treaty (19) between china and U.S, so I have no federal tax withheld (I'm in my first year now). I'm wondering whether I still need to pay the medicare and social security (they are deduced from my payroll). Thanks a lot!
